creativity.online.fi - a significant step forward

The Finnish EU Presidency conference creativity.online.fi - European Content and Copyright Policy was a great success. Prime Minister of Finland, Mr Matti Vanhanen opened the Conference together with Mr Thierry Stoll, Acting Director General of DG Internal Market and Services of the European Commission.

The conference consisted of five sessions on current topics like the state-of-the-art of the content online markets today, new online music licensing schemes, considerations on EU wide and external aspects of content and copyright policies and the different and changing roles of the actors on the online markets. Member of the European Commission Mrs Viviane Reding closed the conference together with Minister of Culture Mrs Tanja Saarela.

The work in developing the policies for content on-demand and creative industries is an on-going process and this Conference was a significant step forward in this important and complex area. Consequently, Mrs Reding stated that the outcomes and the discussions of the conference will be taken into account in the preparations of the forthcoming Recommendation on the Content online Policy for the Information Society.

Participants

The Conference was participated by some 380 representatives of governments and interested parties such as the film and other content industries, copyright holders’ organisations, communications and technology industries, internet service providers, financing bodies as well as other stakeholders and experts.
